OA High Adventure Opportunities
There are a number of High Adventure opportunities that the Order of the Arrow has to offer. The programs give lodge members the opportunity to go to national high adventure bases for a greatly reduced price, and let you spend two weeks with lodge members from other councils and states. Here's a little bit about each of them:
Philmont Trail Crew is a program that lets you go to Philmont for two weeks, one week of hiking and one week of service, for a much lower price than if you went with a contingent. A list of the requirements can be found here, and you can download an application here.
Wilderness Voyage is a program similar to Trail Crew that lets you go to the Northern Tier/Boundary Waters area in Northern Minnesota. This program is also two weeks long, a week of service and a week of canoeing, and is also much cheaper than a contingent trip. A list of the requirements can be found here, and you can download an application here.
Ocean Adventure is, once again, a two week program consisting of a week of service and a week of kayaking. Ocean Adventure takes place at Sea Base in the Florida Keys, and once again, is a much lower price than a trip through a troop. Ocean Adventure has been canceled for the summer of 2010, but will most likely return by the summer of 2011. The requirements can be found here.
Marnoc lodge has not sent anyone on these trips in a while, and we would really like to have some members participate, so take a look at these OA high adventure alternatives. All of these are great programs, and, if you are interested, you can find more information at the official website, adventure.oa-bsa.org.
